Heroes to Hives was founded by Michigan Food and Farming Systems and Bee Wise Farms LLC. The program educational curriculum was developed by Bee Wise Farms LLC owners Dr. Adam Ingrao and Lacey Ingrao.

Dr. Adam Ingrao – Director and Co-Founder

Dr. Ingrao holds a BS in Agriculture and Plant Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a PhD in Entomology from Michigan State University. He has been working in sustainable agriculture for over 30 years and with honey bees for 20 years, teaching beekeeping to audiences around the world. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on agriculture, beekeeping and issues affecting farmer veterans and is a co-author of the textbook Honey Bee Medicine for the Veterinary Practitioner.

Lacey Ingrao, MA – Conference Coordinator and Co-Founder

Lacey Ingrao is a Transpersonal Wellness Practitioner specializing in nature-based therapies and transitions. She is co-owner of Bee Wise Farms LLC, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Lacey received her BA in Psychology from Cal Poly Pomona and MA in Transpersonal Psychology from Naropa University. Lacey’s breadth of knowledge and expertise includes nature-based therapies, somatic & mindful movement, transitions, and rites of passage. In addition, Lacey brings over 20 years of experience in program management and event planning. She also serves on the Board of the American Apitherapy Society.
